For a sweeping view of #Budapest head to the Buda side of the Danube and take in the views from the 19th century ramparts on Gellért Hill. Just upriver is Budapest’s oldest area, The Castle District, home to Buda Castle, Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion.

Cross the Széchenyi Chain Bridge to the Pest side of the city. Visit Hungary’s Parliament Building. Pay your respects at the Shoes on the Danube Memorial, a sobering tribute to the thousands who were executed here during The Second World War.

Admire the magnificent dome of St. Stephen’s Basilica. This world heritage listed boulevard of Andrassy Avenue opens out onto Heroes’ Square and City Park. The park is home to the Széchenyi Thermal Baths, just one of the city’s many lavish bathhouses.

    In 1873 Buda and Pest (and Óbuda) unified officially into Budapest.
    The (Chain/Széchenyi) bridge mentioned was finished in 1849,
    and it was only the first permant bridge, before that we had many seasonal bridges.
    And we have more than seven bridges.

    The majority of Budapest is still Christan and we don't call it "Jewish Quarter". More like "Party District", because it has a vivid night life.

    Magyar means Hungarian.

    We take a swim or bath or splash, but we don't "take water".

    I'm from Ireland and absolutely loved Budapest when we visited a few years ago it was stunning I stayed in the Carlton Hotel on the Buda side the only downside was the weather in February I would imagine that on a sunny July/August day the city is so spectacular looking forward to returning

    i read that it originally was two separate cities 🙂 Buda and Pezt <33 my grandmother went there just after 1945 🙂 im going to go there before i kick the bucket for real. looks like a cute city
